Capturing A Memory, A Fleeting Sensation
Blue mountains roll into the distance, streams splash and sparkle, and forests and hollows are dark, cool and mysterious. I have attempted to pass along through my paintings the pleasure of a sun-soaked afternoon, to offer a respite from the daily struggles we all encounter. While many of these paintings may depict a specific place, being or thing, they are heavily influenced by my memories, stories, dreams, and, at times, fantasies. My paintings always have a backstory, sometimes alluded to in the title and other times known only by me, and through them I attempt to communicate a universal truth. Thank you for visiting my site and checking out my work.
Oh – a little about me. I grew up surrounded by the beautiful Allegheny Mountains in Pennsylvania; those mountains and foothills influence my artwork even now. I earned a BFA in Painting and Drawing at Penn State, and had the honor of working with fabulous painter Richard Mayhew, whose amazing mindscapes still take my breath away. Since that time, I’ve moved around quite a bit, experiencing the unique urban, suburban, and beach lifestyles of the Mid-Atlantic region. Currently residing in Long Valley, NJ, I’m grateful to be continuing my journey as an artist, working primarily in oils.
